What is Japanese Curry?

Short Answer:
My favorite food and hopefully yours.

Long Answer:
Japanese Curry has a long history and it is very different from the curries of Thailand, India, Pakistan and other curry-loving countries. The true progenitor of Japanese Curry is in fact, the French cuisine. When the British brought "curry powder", a mixture of fragrant spices from India back to England in the early 19th century; they unfortunately did not bring the recipes for curry dishes along with the powder. To make the dish from the curry powder, British chefs adopted the French technique, first making a roux from butter and flour, and then adding the curry spices. This British-invented marriage of French technique and Indian spices came to Japan during the craze for everything Western that engulfed the country at the time of the country's opening to the world in the late 19th and early 20th century. Today, it's one of Japan's favorite dishes.

Why is my food served in a to-go container?

That is temporary during our soft opening. We are in the process of making our own custom containers designed for our food. We are hoping they come soon. In the near future, we plan to expand our menu, apply for an alcohol license, and have seated plated dinners. During our soft-opening, orders will be taken from our to-go window but customers are welcome to come in and eat their Curry at our seated bar or standing counter.

What's up with the short hours (5:30PM-10:30PM)?

This is also temporary during our soft opening.
We'll be expanding the menu and hours soon.
